Khaliqdina Hall which is named after its doner Ghulam Hussain Khaliqdina was constructed in 1906. Its doner left Rs. 18,000 in his will, for utilizing it in some Public Project and opened for the committee room of the Native General Library opened in 1851 with the help of Sir Bartle Frere. Thus it was decided to built a public a Public Hall and a library with the donated amount. The funds were not enough for such an ambitious project, therefore the Karachi Municipality came forward to help and provided Rs. 15,000 towards the cost of construction. It was the largest Public Hall in Karachi of that time.

 



Frere Hall is one of the most elegant and beautiful buildings of Karachi.

It is situated on Victoria Road and Elphinston Street.

The construction of this Hall began in 1863 and was completed in 1865. It was raised in the memory of Sir Bartle Frere. The upper floor of the two storied yellowish Karachi lime stone building, consists of a 70 ft. X 24 ft. hall, and an orchestral gallery.
